The Snowmobile Trail Advisory Council (SnowTRAC) will hold its annual advisory meeting from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 28-29 at the Atwood Building, 550 W 7th Ave., in Anchorage. The council will discuss various SnowTRAC issues and review grant applications and trail grooming requests.
SnowTRAC consists of 10 members who are selected from regions across Alaska and appointed to a three-year term by the Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation Director. The primary purpose of the council is to advise the director on funding for eligible grant projects under the Snowmobile Trail Grant Program. The Snowmobile Trail Grant Program is funded through legislative authorization to receive funds from snowmobile point-of-sale registration fees. These funds are used to support snowmobile trail development and maintenance, as well as snowmobile safety and education programs.
