Urban forestry conference set for Sept. 20-21 in Anchorage

ANCHORAGE — The Alaska Division of Forestry is pleased to announce the conference, “The Urban Forest of Tomorrow: Planning for Clean Air, Water, and Habitat” will be held in Anchorage on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 20-21, at the University of Alaska Anchorage Gorsuch Commons building.

Conference presentations will encourage thought and discussion about sustainable development. Topics include green infrastructure, biofuels, planning for climate change, and selection, planting, and care of trees for long-term success. Green infrastructure and urban forest management will be featured on field trips and during outdoor demonstrations. Green infrastructure uses natural and developed landscapes to protect water and air quality and foster other important public benefits.
