ANCHORAGE — Joe McCullough, boating education and training coordinator with the Alaska Office of Boating Safety, recently won the National Boating Safety Educator of the Year award.
He accepted the award during the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators’ annual conference held Sept. 8-12 in Mobile, Ala.
According to a release from the Alaska Office of Boating Safety, the annual award goes to a boating professional or volunteer who has made outstanding contributions to boating safety through education.
“Joe is an outstanding boating safety professional who consistently delivers high-quality boating education and law enforcement training that is relevant to Alaska. He is well deserving of this award,” said Jeff Johnson, Alaska’s boating law administrator. “It is largely due to Joe’s commitment and enthusiasm that that the state’s boating safety programs are now welcomed in schools and communities throughout Alaska, and that demand for the programs continues to grow,”
McCullough previously won Boating Safety Educator of the Year awards from the Alaska Office of Boating Safety and Western States Boating Administrators Association.
