Close trap shoot puts Hudson on top

Participants in the September PITA Registered Trap shoot from left to right: Pete Hudson; Mal Menzies; Jerry Burnett; Jay Davis; Dennis Travie and Mike Curtis.

It was a close shoot between Pete Hudson and Mal Menzies this month at the September PITA registered trap shoot. Hudson narrowly beat Menzies by hitting only three more targets to finish with 269/300.

This month’s shoot was postponed, according to a release from the Juneau Gun Club, due in part to limited access because of road paving and the fact many trap shooters were busy during moose season. Hence, the September PITA registered trap shoot was postponed for one week.

The “make-up” event found overcast to foggy skies with damp weather and “off-and-on” light rain. Three events were shot — singles, doubles and handicap — in that order. The results were:

SINGLES (6 entries):

A Class: Pete Hudson, 97/100 winner; Mal Menzies, 95/100; and Jay Davis, 94/100.

B Class: Mike Curtis, 98/100, winner; Dennis Travis, 97/100.

C Class: Jerry Burnett, 77/100, winner.

DOUBLES (5 entries):

B Class: Pete Hudson, 86/100, winner; Mal Menzies, 82/100; Mike Curtis, 79/100 and Dennis Travis, 78/100.
