NOAA tours continue by appointment-only into the winter

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced this week that Wednesday was the last day for daily tours of the Ted Stevens Marine Research Institute. Previously, the last scheduled day for the 2012 summer season’s daily tours was Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Locals can still arrange for tours of the building, however, beginning Monday, Oct. 1. To do so, call Ralph Steeves at 789-6050. Interested parties are asked to give 48 hours notice.

The tours are free and offer a behind-the-scenes look at labs, experiments and more at the research institute, located at 17109 Pt. Lena Loop Road.
