Middle and high school students are invited to participate in this year’s Juneau Nordic Development ski team, an expansion of the original 4-H Nordic Ski Sunday program.
Nordic Devo, for short, is a program designed for motivated junior skiers who are ready for a more challenging program that features both classic and skating techniques. Skiers will also participate in races, relays and time trials to gain some racing experience. The program includes dryland training sessions focusing on technique, strength, balance and agility development. Youth will meet to train and ski in large and small break-out groups. All ability levels — from beginners to advanced — are welcome. The only criteria are desire and commitment.
Those interested in participating are invited to attend a dryland training and sign up session from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11 in the Juneau-Douglas High School auxiliary gym. At this meeting, parents and youth will have the opportunity to meet the coaches, complete forms, participate in dryland training and learn more about the program.
