Outsiders: Autumn Flaningam

Autumn Flaningam

Age: 31.

Favorite outdoor activities: Alpine and Nordic skiing, fishing, hiking, swimming, biking, kayaking and ziplining.

Training: Flaningam said she has no official training plan, but that she tries “to have all the right gear and make sure I’m prepared.”

“I’ll always talk to friends and try to go as a group,” she said.

Favorite place: West Glacier Trail.

“I’m always looking for trails that have a destination.”

Work: Flaningam works at Eaglecrest Ski Area as the Admin Snowsports Coordinator.

Cool experience: It’s a toss-up, she said, between “powder shots” to the face while skiing or whales watching while sea kayaking.

“Oh, and pretty much any time I’ve ever caught a fish,” she said. “It’s just a rush and then you get to eat it, which is also a bonus.”

Close call: Flaningam said she faced one close call the time she fell off a seining boat.

“Basically, my foot fell in between the boat and the dock. Luckily, I had friends that were there to pull me up, but that was at close one.”
