JUNEAU - Eaglecrest Ski Area will open the Porcupine Chairlift for the 2012-13 Season from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.on Saturday, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 2. Muskeg and Dolly Varden trails will be open.
General Manager, Matt Lillard said, “While we haven’t been blessed with enough snowfall to open the upper mountain we are happy to be able to use our snow making system to create adequate snow depths in the Porcupine area to open on schedule. I’m very proud of our team for pulling together and laying down enough snow to open Saturday.”
Lift tickets will cost $15 for Adults, Seniors & Teens and $10 for Youth and Children. The Rental Shop will offer regularly priced ski and snowboard rentals during open hours. The Snowsports School will hold beginner lessons for customers making advanced reservations, by calling 907-790-2000 x211. The Eaglecrest Grill and Mountain Lift Coffee will be open.
Black Bear, Hooter and Ptarmigan Chairlifts and mountain services, Nordic ski trail grooming, and Snow Bus services will remain closed until further notice. Opening dates will be dependent on snow conditions.
“We’re anxious to open the rest of the mountain as soon as we safely can. In the meantime, we are happy to welcome Eaglecrest skiers and riders back for another fantastic season, said Matt Lillard.
