Curtis claims top spot at Nov. JGC trap shoot

Mike Curtis claimed the top spot, out of six shooters, at the Juneau Gun Club’s November Pacific International Trap Association registered trap shoot on Saturday, Nov. 10.


Curtis tallied 268/300. Mal Menzies, the runner-up, tallied 258/300.

Weather that day was overcast skies with cold temperatures ranging from 20 to 28 degrees F. There were only light winds.

The registered trap shoot included four events: singles, handicap and doubles. The results were:

Singles (6 entries):

A class: Mal Menzies (99/100), winner; Mike Curtis, (94/100) and Jay Davis, (89/100).

B class: Bud Burnett (95/100), winner, and Dennis Travis, (85/100)

C class: Doug Jones (93/100).

Handicap (5 entries): Mike Curtis (22 yd, 90/100) winner in shoot-off; Doug Jones (20 yd, 90/100); Bud Burnett, (20 yd, 83/100); Mal Menzies, (22 yd, 82/100); and Dennis Travis (21 yd, 79/100).

Doubles (6 entries):

B Class: Jay Davis (76/100);

C Class: Mike Curtis (84/100), winner; Bud Burnett (78/100); Mal Menzies (77/100); Dennis Travis (68/100); and Doug Jones (63/100).

High Overall: Mike Curtis (268/300). Runner-up: Mal Menzies (258/300).
