Curtis tops January P.I.T.A. trap event

On Saturday, Jan. 19, nine members of the Juneau Trap Club met to compete in the monthly P.I.T.A registered trap event.

 

The weather was overcast to partly sunny with temperatures varying from 29 to 31 degrees F. Slight winds prevailed throughout the day.

Three events were held: 16 yard singles, varying distances of handicap yardage and double trap.

The following was the order of shooting and the results:

SINGLES (8 entries):

“B” Class: Bud Burnett, 95/100, winner; Mike Curtis, 94/100; Doug Solberg, 93/100; Dennis Travis, 92/100; Doug Jones, 89/100 and Mal Menzies, 89/100.

“C” Class: Russ Shiver, 86/100, winner and Anita Watts, 49/100.

HANDICAP:

Short Yardage (19 to 21 yards): Bud Burnett, 88/100, winner; Dennis Travis, 85/100; and Doug Solberg, 71/100.

Mid Yardage, (21 to 24 yards): Pete Hudson, 90/100, winner; Mike Curtis, 85/100; and Mal Menzies, 74/100.

DOUBLES:

“B” Class: Mike Curtis, 88/100, winner; Pete Hudson, 85/100; Bud Burnett, 73/100; Dennis Travis, 71/100; and Mal Menzies, 70/100.

High Overall: Mike Curtis, 267/300 (89.0 percent). Runner-up, Bud Burnett, 256/300 (85.3 percent).
