The Yakutat School District, in partnership with the City and Borough of Yakutat, will be hosting an Energy Fair on Monday, April 22 and Tuesday April, 23 in the Yakutat High School gym.
Rod Schug, Yakutat School District superintendent, said the “goal is to educate our community on the many energy programs that are available and more.”
Schug would like to extend the energy fair invitation beyond attendees; he’s also looking for experts to speak on key issues or programs.
“We have an auditorium to make presentations to our students, parents and community members,” he said in an email. “I am working to get as many folks from Alaska as possible and national expertise to come to Yakutat ... We are looking for folks — from both the state and national level — to talk on energy efficient doors, windows, roofs, and heating systems, to name a few.”
Some topics the event may include: Biomass energy, diesel efficiency, energy efficiency and conservation, geothermal energy, hydroelectric power, ocean and river energy, and solar and wind power.
