Rain and Hudson rule at Feb. JGC shoot

Despite an onslaught of constant rain on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the local shooting range, the Juneau Gun Club held their monthly trap shoot competition. This month a dozen club members turned out to participate in three events: 16-yard singles, short and mid-yardage handicap and doubles.


The high overall went to Pete Hudson, who tallied 269 out of 300. Bud Burnett took the runner up spot, with his shooting score of 248/300.

Conditions were rain, sometimes harder than others, with temperatures ranging from 34 to 38 degrees F. Winds didn’t top 10 mph.

The results were as follows:

SINGLES (12 entries)

A Class: Pete Hudson, 98/100, winner.

B Class: Wm. Bud Burnett, 95/100, winner; Jay Davis, 94/100; Mile Gabel and Mal Menzies, 92/100.

C Class: Jerry Godkin, 91/100, winner; Doug Jones, 86/100; Craig Salzillo, 79/100; Dennis Travis, 78/100; Fred Bergander, 74/100; Larry Seamens, 72/100 and Michael Kohan, 67/100.

HANDICAP (7 Entries)

Short Yardage (20 yards): Bud Burnett, 90/100; Jerry Godkin, 85/100; Mike Gabel, 80/100;Doug Jones, 74/100 Greg Salzillo, 74/100.

Mid Range: Pete Hudson, 87/100, winner; Mal Menzies, 79/100.

DOUBLES 50 Pair (5 entries)

B Class: Pete Hudson, 84/100, winner; Jay Davis, 77/100.

C Class: Mal Menzies, 71/100, winner; Bud Burnett, 70/100 and Fred Bergander, 68/100.

High Overall: Pete Hudson, 269/300.
