The Department of Natural Resources has announced the listing of 472 parcels available in the State’s annual sealed-bid auction. Alaska residents may submit sealed bids in person, by mail, or online between 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20 and 5 p.m. on Monday, July 10.
Apparent high bids will be announced the following week.
Free brochures describing the parcels and how to participate are available at the DNR Land Counter in Juneau. Alternatively, the brochure may be viewed online by visiting dnr.alaska.gov and following the “Buy Land” link.
This year’s land offering includes parcels ranging from the Southeast Alaska coastline to Interior river corridors. Some lots are located on the road system or close to communities while others are in remote, rural locations. In Southeast, parcels are available in Freshwater Bay, Frederick Point North, near Petersburg, Whale Passage and in Clark Bay, on Prince of Wales Island.
More than 100 parcels are new to the market this year, including 10 new parcels created through the Remote Recreational Cabin Sites staking program, and 22 parcels recently platted in new subdivisions, some of which have constructed interior roads. Perhaps the most unique parcel in this offering is the Crown Point property near Moose Pass, which includes a 1,200-square-foot starter home on an acre of land.
