Discovery Southeast seeking volunteers for spring, summer events

The local nonprofit, Discovery Southeast, is looking for volunteers this spring and summer to help with some community events.


Those events include the upcoming 24th annual Dinner and Auction Fundraiser, on Friday, April 19, Sea Week, and other community events like Earth Day and the Community Day at the University of Alaska Southeast. 

24th Annual Dinner and Auction: Looking for volunteers to fill shifts between 5:45-9:45 p.m. to help sell and take tickets, hand out bid numbers, help with checkout, monitor auction tables and run bid sheets, monitor the dinner line, as well as help with set up and clean up.

Sea Week: Volunteers are needed to help with the fourth-grade Sea Week hikes at the Mendenhall Wetlands State Game Refuge Dike Trail and Fish Creek Estuary. Volunteers will be needed to help in the field at varying times from Wednesday, April 24 to Friday, May 3.

Community outreach events: Discovery Southeast participates in a variety of community events by setting up and hosting nature education information tables and providing hands-on activities for youth. Help is needed for the Earth Day event at the Nugget Mall from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 20. Help is also needed at Community Day at UAS in conjunction with Juneau Jazz and Classics, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 18.
