Join life long resident Marie Darlin and hydroelectric expert Scott Willis for a pair of history talks scheduled in May at the Juneau-Douglas City Museum.
The first, led by Darlin is a historic downtown walking tour happening at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 6 and again on Tuesday, May 14.
Darlin was raised in Juneau and has a wealth of knowledge about Juneau-Douglas history. Cost to participate is $20.
Scott Willis will present the “History of Hydropower in Juneau” beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 16 at the city museum.
His lecture will highlight hydroelectric efforts from the 1880s to today. Willis will include hydro projects built by the early gold miners, the early history of Alaska Electric Light & Power Co. and the construction of Snettisham by the Federal Government. Cost for this lecture is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and children.
