Donate your old and lightly used rain gear and boots to the Rain Gear Round-up, an annual event aimed at providing local children the necessary clothing for outdoor activities and exploration. Organizers are looking for childrens’ sized rain gear.
Despite the fact this event has been popular in the past, this year has seen few donations. In fact, they only have one so far, said organizer John Webber.
“It’s not looking well,” he said. “We’ve only gotten one donation so far. We’ll take just about anything at this point.”
Rain gear donations will officially be accepted today, from 5-8 p.m. at Foodland IGA. Donations will also be accepted anytime during business hours at SAGA’s main office, located at 9397 LaPerouse Avenue.
The exchange event will happen from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Maritime Festival on Sunday, May 19. Webber said “any family who needs rain gear or boots for their children, are encouraged to stop by and collect them at our booth that day.”
This is a free exchange.
For more information, contact Webber at 723-1574. This event is brought to you through the partnership of SAGA and the Juneau Economic Development Council.
