Womens' fly fishing instructor to teach special Juneau courses

Cecilia “Pudge” Kleinkauf, owner of Womens Flyfishing of Anchorage, will be teaching a Beginning Fly Fishing Class for Women today, May 31 and Saturday, June 1. She will also be offering an optional “on the water” fishing class on Sunday, June 2.

According to Alaska Fly Fishing Goods Owner Brad Elfers, this instructor only gets to Juneau about once every five years, “so it is kind of a special event.”

The class will cover assembling the gear needed to fly fish, tying knots, several different styles of casting, choosing flies, landing and releasing fish, just to name a few. The class format is small, with hands-on instruction in a non-competitive environment.

Pudge Kleinkauf has owned and operated Womens Flyfishing for 28 years. She has authored numerous books on Alaska fly fishing and is a well respected guide and instructor, Elfers wrote in an email.

Class size is limited. Contact Alaska Fly Fishing Goods at 586-3754, for more information or to sign up.

More info can be found Kleinkauf’s website http://www.womensflyfishing.net.
