Arizona Girl Scouts visit Juneau

Ryan Yount, Alexandra Gutierrez, Abigail Kany, Rebecca Kim, Nora Wagnern and Ashley Ong smile at one of the overlooks near the top of Mount Roberts this summer. The girls are part of a Girl Scout Troop from Phoenix, Arizona who raised moeny to make the trip to Juneau this year.

Girl Scouts from Phoenix, Arizona, Troop 2292, saved all their cookie money for three years to travel to Juneau and this summer their goal became a reality.

Troop Leader Debra Gutierrez said the girls “earned every penny to spend a week enjoying a variety of activities in Juneau.”

She wanted to extend a special thanks to St. Brendan’s Episcopal Church for allowing the girls to stay at the church.

Gutierrez said it was especially meaningful for one of the girls because her grandfather, the late Rev. Charles Adams, was instrumental in building the church.

The girls checked out many of the popular haunts, such as the Mount Roberts Tramway and the Mendenhall Glacier.
