JGC: November shooting results

On Saturday, Nov. 2, the Juneau Gun Club held its a 50-50-25 pair PITA registered shoot. This was a make-up shoot for the Wednesday night, Oct. 30 night shoot that was foul weathered out.

The shoot was limited to 50 singles; 50 handicap and 25 pair of doubles, or a 50-50-50 event. Saturday was a beautiful clear, cool afternoon making up for the Wednesday night storm. Only four members enjoyed the good weather. The shoot started at 9:30 a.m. and for the most part was completed by noon.

EVENT 1, SINGLES, FOUR ENTRIES: Class “A”; Pete Hudson and Mal Menzies, , 49/50 each: Class “B”; Bud Burnett, 47/50 and Wayne Bertholl, 43/50;

EVENT 2, HANDICAP, FOUR ENTRIES: Short Yardage, 18 to 21 yards; Bud Burnett, 44/50, winner by flip over Wayne Bertholl, 44/50; Mid Yardage, 22 to 24 yards; Pete Hudson, 46/50, winner; and Mal Menzies, 39/50.

EVENT 3, 25 Pair DOUBLES, THREE ENTRIES: Class “B”, Pete Hudson, 42/50 winner, Bud Burnett 39/50 and Mal Menzies 33/50,

High Overall was Pete Hudson with 137/150 (91.3%).


Buckwheat Classic registration opens

Registration is now open for the 31st annual Buckwheat Ski Classic. The cross-country ski race will be held on March 25 on the Log Cabin Ski Trails north of Skagway and include 50K, 25K and 10K classic races as well as a 5K kids race.

Unit 4 fur season to end

The season for marten, mink, weasel and river otter in Unit 4 (Admiralty, Baranof and Chichagof Islands) ended Wednesday. Beaver season remains open through April 30.
