State fishing huts available for rent

FAIRBANKS — Alaska state parks officials said 10 ice fishing huts are available for rent this winter in the northern region.

Five of the huts are at Quartz Lake near mile 278 of the Richardson Highway. The other five are at Birch Lake near mile 305 of the highway.

The state charges $15 per day for rental of the huts.

Each of the huts has a wood-burning stove and four fishing holes.

Officials say all other supplies and equipment must be provided by people using them.

The 8-foot-by-12-foot huts are managed by the state Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation and built by the state Department of Fish and Game.
