University of Alaska Southeast professors Kevin Krein and Forest Wagner recently led a group of five graduating UAS Outdoor Leadership students on an 11-day expedition to the Nelchina Glacier, in the Chugach Mountain Range.

The group climbed and skied extensively, reaching 11,000 feet on Mount Valhalla and summiting the 10,600-foot Mount Fafner on May 10 and 12, respectively.

The expedition was a final requirement for students in the Outdoor Studies Program, an intensive and interdisciplinary curriculum offered through the Humanities Department at UAS’ Juneau campus.
