Volunteer work day planned on Outer Point Trail

With National Trails Day around the corner, Trail Mix Inc. is hosting a volunteer work day on the Outer Point Trail from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 7.

The public is invited to put on those gloves and roll up those sleeves to help improve and create the first ADA accessible trail to the beach in Juneau.

Trail Mix is partnering with SAGA, Executive Director Erik Boraas said, to do the trail improvements. ORCA volunteers and participants will also be on hand to help for the day.

Interested participants should park at the end of North Douglas Highway, come prepared for the weather and bring good gloves, snacks and water. A shuttle will transport volunteers to the trailhead.

Lunch will be served for participants from noon to 1 p.m. In addition, the Alaskan Brewing Co. has donated post-work beverages for those over 21.

Boraas said there will be work for all ages and abilities.
