Mother duck and her ducklings, three
Needed to cross the road, you see
To reach the pond with the bright clear water
And the tasty weeds, and the silly otter.
But a long black road stood in the way
With cars and trucks zooming, night and day
The cars were so big and the ducklings so small
How would they make it, one and all?
But mother duck knew just what to do
She looked to the right, and to the left too
When she saw no danger, she gave a loud “QUACK!”
And across the road they scurried, and they didn’t look back!
So into the pond they gleefully jumped
And snapped at bugs, and wiggled their rumps
Thanks to mother duck, the ducklings, we know,
Will sleep happy tonight, all in a row.
