Eaglecrest Ski Area’s Downtown Rail Jam, which was scheduled to happen Saturday, Nov. 28, has been postponed.
In an email sent Friday, Eaglecrest’s Marketing and Events Coordinator Charlie Herrington, said the weather forecast isn’t looking promising and the Rail Jam will be rescheduled for a later date in December.
“The sea level weather forecast is calling for gale force winds and heavy rain for the duration of the event,” Herrington wrote. “First and foremost, we want this event to be fun. Looking at what’s ahead for Saturday on the waterfront, we wouldn’t be able to have the same festive atmosphere.”
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is predicting a high of 41 degrees F Saturday, with rainfall ammounts totaling between 1 and 2 inches.
Eaglecrest will still open for skiing and snowboarding this weekend, however. Lift services will be limited to the Hooter and Black Bear chairlifts, with terrain suited for intermediate and expert skiers and riders, according to the ski area’s website. Lift tickets will be $35 for adults, $30 for seniors, and $25 for students, teens and military.
