Woman arrested after being accused of pulling knife at The Glory Hole

Posted: March 1, 2011 - 7:49am

A Juneau woman was arrested Sunday afternoon on one count of third-degree assault, a class ‘C’ felony, after she alledgedly tried to stab another woman at The Glory Hole, according to a release from the Juneau Police Department.

The alleged victim called JPD and said Melinda Wright, 45, had been asked to leave the homeless shelter, but refused. A second call from the alleged victim said Wright pulled a knife and attempted to stab the caller. The woman blocked Wright’s attempt to stab her before several men tackled Wright and disarmed her.

After the alleged assault, Wright left the shelter. JPD located her and arrested her a short distance from The Glory Hole. She was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
