Big kings are hard to come by, and heavy cohos are surprising the field after two days of the three-day 58th Annual Golden Salmon Derby.

Salmon are a vital part of the cycle of life. Not only do they play an important role in the ecosystem
around Juneau, but they also play an important role in the development of young minds.
In hopes of enticing more contestants to turn in scholarship fish during the
58th Golden North Salmon Derby, Territorial Sportsmen Inc. is unveiling a new high-stakes
drawing with the help of sponsors Coeur-Alaska Kensington and Kennecott Greens Creek Mining Co.
