Description

Sports have long been in the local spotlight, so why not take a trip back in time?

This slideshow chronicles a portion of the 50-year cross-channel high school basketball rivalry between Douglas and Juneau. Images and snippets are from the early days (1900) until roughly 1930. It was prepared by the Basketball Historical Committee, with the support of the Juneau-Douglas City Museum and with a Juneau History Grant.

A special thanks to the Basketball Historical Committee for granting permission to republish these images. This the first in a series of slideshows. Photos seen here were compiled by Abby Lowell, Digital Media and Outdoors editor, Juneau Empire.
