Juneau teams sweep Rainball

Merchants Wharf, Island Pub and Team Imperial go undefeated in tournament play
JUNEAU SPORTS ASSOCIATION

The 32nd annual Juneau Sports Association Rainball Tournament wrapped up Sunday with five champions being crowned.

Juneau teams won all five titles as the Juneau Sports Association entertained teams from Sitka and throughout Southeast Alaska.

Merchants Wharf swept the Women's D bracket for the championship.

Merchants Wharf opened with a 14-3 win over Parts Plus, then beat Chicks with Sticks 10-2 to advance to the final. In the championship game, Merchants Wharf topped Chicks with Sticks 8-2.

In the Men's C bracket, Taku Oil battled back from the loser's bracket to win the title.

After falling 23-22 to Taku Oil in the semifinals, the team rebounding to win four straight games for the title.

Taku Oil rallied to beat Floors Galore 14-13 in the championship round, eventually winning the title with a 1-0 victory in the decisive game. Island Pub ran through the Men's E bracket to win the title with an undefeated record.

Island Pub opened with a 13-2 win over Les Schwab. The team then followed up with a 23-9 rout of Canton House and a 19-11 win over TimberWolf. In the final, Island Pub defeated TimberWolf 11-9.

In the Men's F bracket, 1st National Caps beat Northland Services twice in the final for the championships.

After falling to Northland Services 31-15 early in the tournament, 1st National Caps won three in a row. 1st National Caps escaped the loser's bracket with a 14-13 win over The Young-The Old then beat Northland Services 21-10 and 1-0 for first place.

Team Imperial went unscathed in the Women's C bracket to win the title. Team Imperial beat Sitka's The Cellar 16-4, Pat's AKA Louie's 9-8, House of Liquor from Sitka 17-5 and then Pat's AKA Louie's again 7-3 for the title.
