Native ladies take center stage for Roughhouse Boxing

Two American natives will square off in Friday’s Roughhouse Boxing main event at Marlintini’s Lounge.

Janelle “The Native Knockout” Brennan, a Navajo from Arizona, will face Juneau’s Edna “Wildflower” Abbott, a Tlingit.

Bob Haag has promoted all of Abbott’s fights and said the pairing will be a great match.

“I saw Janelle fight last month at the Egan Center,” he said. “I thought that would be a great fight for Edna to bring her out of retirement.

“These girls have so much in common,” he continued. “They are both mothers, they are both in there 30s, they are both tough. Janelle has won all her fights this year and she’s is in really great shape.”

The ladies main event, plus seven other MMA fights and boxing matches round out the card for Friday. MMA fights include Kole Skaflestad vs. Charlie Gallant and DJ Lindstrom vs. Jonathan Morford.
