Sitka capped off a weekend series in Juneau with an 11-2 Southeast Conference win over Thunder Mountain on Saturday at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park.
It was senior night for three Falcons, Xavier Dunn, John Correa and Anies Sadeghi, and Dunn went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI.
The Wolves scored two runs in the first innings, four in the second, three in the fifth and two in the seventh, and held the Falcons to a run in the second and sixth innings.
The first two Sitka hitters reached on errors as the Wolves scored twice in the top of the first. Luke Clayton then went to second on an errant pick-off throw and third on a wild pitch before scoring on what should have been an RBI groundout by V.J. Carlos,but he was safe at first on a throwing error. Carlos then stole second and went to third on a passed ball and later scored on a wild pitch.
Sitka picked up four more in the second after back-to-back singles by Tiki O’Neill and Nels Svenson. Carlos picked up an RBI single but both runners scored after the ball got by the left fielder, and Carlos went to third.
Devan Romine was down 0-2 in the count, but blasted the next offering over the fence in the dead center for a two-run home run and a 6-0 Sitka lead after one and a half.
The Falcons got one back in the bottom of the second. Dunn smacked a leadoff double to left, followed by a Camden Thomas single. Dunn then scored on a dropped fly ball in right, and the Wolves led 5-1 after two.
The Falcons’ final run came in the sixth on an RBI double by Dunn, scoring Chatham Miller.
