GCLL, Juneau hosting Majors district tourney

The Gastineau Channel Little League is hosting the Majors Division Alaska District 2 Little League Baseball Tournament beginning Monday and finishing with Saturday’s championship game at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park.

All-Star teams from Haines, Ketchikan, Petersburg, Prince of Wales, Sitka and Wrangell join host Juneau for the tournament, which begins with pool play before going to a four-team playoff on Friday. Pool A includes Sitka, Petersburg, Ketchikan and Juneau, and Pool B includes Prince of Wales, Wrangell and Haines.

Pool A’s top team faces the Pool B’s No. 2 on Friday, while Pool B’s top team faces Pool A’s second-place team in the single-elimination bracket. The championship game is at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Games are at noon, 3 and 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, with Juneau playing at 6 p.m. each day. Thursday will be a rain day to make up any games canceled due to weather.
