GCLL Juniors fall to 0-2 in pool play

Alaska, comprised of the Gastineau Channel Little League’s Junior All-Stars, fell to 0-2 in the pool play in the Western Regional Tournament after a 7-1 loss to Idaho on Wednesday in Irvine, Calif.


Alaska has scored just one run in two games after an 11-0 loss to Arizona on Tuesday.

Juneau’s offense continued its struggles Wednesday, totaling just two hits, one each for RJ Markovich and Grant Ainsworth, and scoring just one run in the fifth inning.

GCLL also committed nine errors in the field, giving up five unearned runs as Idaho scored once in the first and second innings, four in the fourth and one in the sixth.

Jack Withington took the loss for Juneau, giving up six runs, four earned, on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

Idaho managed just four hits, but Alaska committed nine errors in the field.

Alaska is now 0-2 in pool play with just three guaranteed games to go, starting with Utah today at 2:30 p.m. AKDT.
