????

is this a schedule or a poll? and how come I read in KINY that they are doing a tribute to the military tonight at the game and not one word from Juneau Empire about it, that to me says they either don't support our local kids Football team or the men and women that serve in the military. thats sad Juneau Empire.

@yellow77chevz

This is a poll that shows each team's current rank, its record and this week’s opponent.

And please don’t make assumptions. I wasn't informed that it was military appreciation night until the day before the game and on the front page of the sports section, I made this announcement in the skybox at the top left-hand corner. In addition, I made the announcement on the @akempiresports twitter feed, which also shows up on the main sports page of this website. To say there was "not one word" about this from the Juneau Empire is simply not true.

Also, this is a one-man sports department and, unfortunately, there isn’t enough time in the work week to do all of the stories everyone wants. We ran four previews split over Thursday and Friday for the other local teams that began play this weekend, and there are two more coming next week for volleyball. It would be completely unfair to ignore the other sports that are now going on to write another football story. We ran a full special preview section for the local football teams when the season started. As the season progresses, we'll continue to cover each sport in as in-depth a fashion as possible.
