TMHS boys, JDHS girls' split-squad finish 2nd in Haines

The rest of the local prep cross-country runners competed in Haines over the weekend, with Thunder Mountain taking second on the boys’ side and a Juneau-Douglas split-squad taking second on the girls’ side.

 

Sitka’s Niko Friedman won the boys’ race in 19:30.1, followed by the Falcons’ James Steeves (20:56.9). Juneau-Douglas’ Martin Woodby also cracked the top 10, finishing seventh in 21:39.7.

Sitka won with 30 points, followed by Thunder Mountain’s 67, Haines’ 76, JDHS’s 89, Yakutat’s 113 and Sitka 2 with 147.

Sitka also won the girls’ meet with 34 points, followed by JDHS (52), Haines (61) and TMHS (66).
