'Eatin it' in the snow at Eaglecrest

Second race series finishes at Eaglecrest

The second U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association sanctioned race series finished on Sunday at Eaglecrest.

With speeds approaching those reached on the out bound Egan Drive Highway, skiers from the Juneau Ski Club raced down Upper Hilarys to the base finish in record time in giant slalom competition.

Giant Slalom Men’s race winners on Saturday were: 1. Peter Peel with a total two run time of 1:39; 2. Matthew Vandor 1:44.05; 3. Shane Kelly 1:47.99; 4. Joseph Greenough 1:48.80; 5. Christopher Cummins 1:54.39; 6. Ronan Davies 1:59.07; 7. Jake Marnon 2:21.38. Other racers included James Whitney, Brian Vandor, Cody Weldon, Gabriel A Cohen and Noah Spengler.

The Giant Slalom Ladies results were: 1. Sophia Wahto 1:45.58; 2. Rebekka Ord 1:47.66; 3. Naomi Moritz 1:50.86; 4. Gabriella Hebert 1:57.20; 5. Alexandra Hiley 1:58.97; 6. Dorothy Chapman 1:59.46; 7. Quiny Bates 2:09.69; 8. Jeanne Lin Muller 2:17.17; 9. Hailley J Jones 2:18.67; 10. Sabrina Jones 2:18.75; 11. Dunya Hermann 2:19.76; 12. Jessica I Gregg 2:24.03; 13. Laurie Balstad 2:26.85; 14. Katelyn Redekopp 2:35.90.
