Shootout offers middle-schoolers a chance to shine

Posted: March 22, 2012 - 11:08pm

The Gold Medal tournament isn’t the only basketball contest in town this weekend. The Mike Jackson Memorial Shootout is a showcase for the top middle-school hoops talent from across Southeast.

The 31-team tourney, sponsored by HoopTime Basketball, offers both boys and girls play in three separate brackets. The event kicked off Wednesday, and continues today at Floyd Dryden Middle School from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m., Dzantiki Heeni Middle School from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Glacier Valley and Riverbend elementary schools from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. The tournament concludes Saturday with championship games at Thunder Mountain High school starting at 1 p.m.

There is no admission to any of the tournament games.
