The Juneau Ski Club held it’s second-to-last Eaglecrest runs on Saturday in the first-ever Kinder Kombi race.

The Vandor Construction Kombi was a non-sanctioned event open to all Junior and DEVO athletes and allowed post-runners from the younger ranks to tackle the course at the end.

Quincy Bates took the top ladies placing with a two-run score of 1:46.81 (52.45, 54.36); Adrienne Audet was second with 1:49.28 (53.95, 55.33); Alexandra Hiley third in 2:01.10 (59.79, 1:01.31); Hailley Jones fourth 2:07.77 (1:03.11, 1:04.66); Jessica Gregg fifth 2:25.48 (1:11.57, 1:13.91); Jeanne Lin Muller sixth 2:29.24 (1:13.54, 1:15.70); and Katelyn Redekopp seventh 2:38.95 (1:18.02, 1:20.93). Sabrina Jones, Dunya Hermann, Laurinne Balstad, Dorothy Chapman, Rebekka Ord, K C Kent and Naomi Moritz also competed.

Peter Peel took the men’s top spot with 1:42.26 (51.84, 50.42); followed by Matthew Vandor 1:43.21 (51.22, 51.99); Joseph Greenough 1:46.32 (52.54, 53.78); Ronan Davies 1:52.24 (55.46, 56.78); Shane Kelly 1:53.54 (56.35, 57.19); Cody Weldon 1:55.99 (58.09, 57.90); and Jake Marnon 2:25.95 (1:12.10, 1:13.85). Other competitors included Christopher Cummins, James Whitney, London Madrid, Noah Spengler, and Gabriel Cohen.

The course featured a mixture of standard turns and gates creating a tactile awareness by blending sections of different gates in flowing, rhythmical and consistently changing pattern.

The course tested the skier’s ability to act and adapt to an ever-changing rhythm and radius but allowing the competitors smooth transistions between the various sections of gates.

Starting at the throat of Hilary’s Run the races blasted down the hill to the finish in two runs and then celebrated with a barbeque.

Today is the Juneau Ski Club’s final event, the Dress Up Slalom. The race will start at 1:30 p.m. to allow for the Easter Holiday events. The Dress Up Slalom features the racers in bright costumes and fast runs on the Lower Hilary’s Course.
