Falcons' nine win 2, drop 1 on Petersburg diamond

The Thunder Mountain High School hard-ballers took on a three-game road trip at Petersburg last weekend with some positive results, even in a 2-1 defeat to the Craig Panthers on Friday.

Falcons’ hurler Ben Bullock threw three innings and struck out one, allowed six hits and three walks. Reliever Jackson Pavitt threw four innings, struck out three, allowed three hits and no walks.

Craig starting pitcher Benolken threw four innings and struck out four, and relief pitcher Fredrickson threw three, striking out two. The duo kept the Falcons at bay through six innings with the Panthers getting on top 2-0.

The Falcons managed to make a dent in the scorebooks in the last inning.

Jackson Pavitt walked in the seventh and stole second. Martin Conchas-Michel scored Pavitt with a single. With two runners on base the Panthers’ pitcher made a pick-off to end the rally and give Craig a 2-1 win.

The Falcons got three hits, one each from Pavitt, Chris Luck and Conchas-Michel, and made just one fielding error in the game. The Panthers stroked out nine hits and committed no fielding errors.

Falcons 7, Petersburg 5 (Thursday)

The Vikings Taylor Pullar three all seven innings for Petersburg, striking out 11 Falcons batters, hitting two and walking eight while giving up seven runs on six hits and six errors.

Thunder Mountain’s Pavitt scored twice and Bullock, RJ Markovitch, Concha-Michel, Brenyn Marshal and Erik Renya crossed the plate once apiece.

The Falcons’ got five innings on the mound from Dylan Johnson who struck out six and allowed five hits on three errors. Luck came in for relief and also struck out six, while walking two batters and allowing one hit.

Falcons 21, Wrangell 1 (Saturday)

The Wrangell Wolves were over matched by a talented Falcons ball club in the final game on Saturday at Petersburg.

The Falcons jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first, added five more runs in the third, one in the fourth and had the game stopped after the fifth when they put up another 10 points. RJ Markovitch, Jared Markovitch scored three runs, Conchas-Michel, Brian Mielke, Johnson, and Renya two each, and Gus Swanton, Luck, Thomas, Chatham Miller, Brandon Chappell and Tim Christensen all crossed the plate once.

Swanton threw three innings, striking out nine, allowing one it and four walks. RJ Markovich three one inning and struck out three with one walk and J. Markovitch threw one inning and struck out one and walked one. The Falcons had just one error.

Baseball and softball schedules and team rosters will be posted once they are made available to the newspaper.
