Wet, wild and windy at Region V track & field championships

Athletes brave weather to qualify for state

The 2012 Region V track and field championships were nearly put on hold Friday due to weather in the capital city.

Instead the meet surged on and athletes battled through inclement weather at Thunder Mountain High School’s Falcons Field through Saturday in one of the coldest state-qualifying meets to date. The winner of each event qualifies for the state championships at Fairbank’s Lathrop High School next weekend. State competitors, aside from event winners, were not available by press time.
