ESPN, Baby

Juneau's Kasey Watts is tagged out as he runs back to second base after attempting to make a steal.

Okay, I swore I would never use a Dick Vitale “baby” but our boys are going to be on television.

And not NBC tape delay... like that other sporting event going on... what is that called again?

The Gastineau Channel Little League Major All Stars lost to Oregon 4-0 Monday night but they still have a top record for reaching prime time viewing pleasure.

I tried to call manager Storie but he turns his cell phone off due to the amount of calls.

“It is crazy,” Storie said a few nights ago, when I managed to trace him through a discarded Burger King wrapper in a dumpster outside a hotel in San Bernardino. (Okay, another parent handed her cell phone to him). “Everyone is trying to reach us. My ringer has been off the whole time we have been out of Juneau.”

It seems everyone, aside from a certain president, is trying to set up an interview or a taping or a barbeque.

Our boys are in demand!

And they should be! They have a chance to make history even if team Juneau, well, Team Alaska lost a close one tonight.

Oregon’s Gresham National Little League has a 2-1 record; we have a 1-2 mark now. Washington is 3-0, Idaho is 2-1, and Wyoming and Montana are 0-2 (they will probably be 0-3 after tomorrow as they play the top two teams.

At any rate, the top four teams move into televised semifinal action on ESPN2 (the number 2 seed vs. the number 3 seed) at 2 p.m. California time; and ESPN (number 1 vs. number 4) at 8 p.m.

I cannot wait to see everyone lined up on the field and hear, “My favorite player is Ichiro!”

You remember Ichiro? The former member of that team we used to watch on television before ROOTS SPORTS and GCI got into a tiff.

The Seattle Mariners! Yeah, that’s it.

I wonder how the Mariners feel about that.

How great is it that the stupid old Olympics are going to get bumped for some prime time baseball?

I mean, come on NBC... at least take down the LIVE banner you have posted on the tape delay.

Exclusive video and television rights.... bah!

In this mult-social-media-sharing climate we need some of these athletes to start posting live action YouTubes from their games right to the web.

Excuse me... I just got a text... from Obama... asking for Storie’s cell phone number.

I need to twitter LeBron and Phelps, let them know what their peeps are up to on the diamond.

This is flat-out scary baby, GCLL are some PTPers!
