Coaching???
Is there a special teams coach? Three weeks into the season and the players do not know that once the ball goes 10 yds on a kickoff you need to grab it? Where is the blocking on kickoffs? The guys in front are not blockingthe guys on the kicking team and allowing them a clear path to the loose ball. For 2 games in a row the Bears have looked like a deer in the headlights on kick offs.
The delay of game peanalties are also getting old. The Bears had several minutes between the end of the first and start of the secong quarter but had to call a time out before the first snap of the 2nd quarter. Huddling 12 yards behind the line of scrimmage? They had 1st and 1 on the NP 20 and go from that to 4th and 20 due to delay of game and false statr penalties.
Get rid of the headphones guy above the press box and let the QB call his own plays to avoid all of those stupid penalties. Way too much time is spent getting a play to the QB.
On defense NP ran the same play for big yards about 20 times. Fake to the back and the QB takes off untouched up the middle for 20 or more. Wasilla ran the same play for big yards too. Come on coaches open your eyes.
Bad Coaching!
Gotta agree that it all starts with bad coaching!
-How can you let a kick-off just go?!?!?! IT'S A FREE BALL, jump on it!!! It's like the kids had no idea that a kick-off is a free ball for anyone to get. It doesn't matter if it might go out of bounds, jump on it! That is bad coaching!!!
-False start, delay of game, false start, holding, delay of game, illegal motion.....that is basically the game re-cap of the Bears offense. With all of these penalties, where's the discipline? From 1st and goal and about to go ahead, to 4th and forever because of penalties. That's bad coaching!!!
-Time-out immediately after a quarter end...what the ____?!?!?! Another time-out and your play call is an off-tackle run on 3rd and long?!?!?! That's bad coaching!!!
-5 minutes to go and down by a couple of scores, and YOU'RE STILL HUDDLING BEFORE EVERY PLAY?!?!?! Where was the urgency, where was the hurry-up offense? They should've had three plays called BEFORE the offense took the field after the fourth quarter kick-off returns. That's bad coaching!!!
I think the coaches need to run more laps than the players this week at practice!!!
Just In From Vegas
Harrah's over/under for on- sides kickoffs recovered by Colony is 5!
stats???
How about showing some stats of the game results?
Coaches are Dedicated!
Re-reading my earlier post, I may sound too harsh of a critic, especially hiding behind a moniker, so I also want to add that I believe Coach Sjoroos and his staff are very dedicated to what they do and go above and beyond in the time and effort that they put in for Juneau Youth Football!
I don't retract my earlier post and still feel that this loss falls almost entirely on the coaching staff. They just did not look ready at all, but I also know that the Bears are dealing with some early-season player shuffling.
When I was posting earlier, I was flashing back to my time in the stands yelling!
Coach Sjoroos and staff, thank you for your tireless effort. We know that all the coaches do much more than needed and love Juneau Youth Football and the Crimson Bears (and probably Falcon players that you know, too). And the program helps to teach discipline, teamwork and effort to our youth. Please keep up your effort and love for our youth sports, we do appreciate it.....even if we harshly criticize the game results sometimes!
JDHS Football
Have any of you actually been at the field watching practices to see what the coaches are teaching the players? Until you have, I think you should be less quick to judge and criticize.
Players can behave one way during practices but when it is game time that is an entirely different situation.
Poor Coachig
Good coaches like those at North Pole don't need 3 weeks to get a player to grab a ball on a kick off. Just becuse you put a lot of time into something doesn't mean you are good at it.
Yes, I've watched practices.
Actually...yes, I have watched a few practices. I've come early a few times to pick up a player, and sat and watched for a while. On one of the nice days, I watched most of a practice. Satisfied now, akbears?
I do know that these players are BOYS and not multi-million-dollar-a-year pros. And because of that, they are expected to make many more mistakes.....doesn't excuse some of the stuff I witnessed.
I have Been a Coach
And the errors that are occurring are inexcusable. The Bears could have beaten NP if they hadn't beaten themselves. What is happening is like teachers failing to have kids learn to read and write. Pretty basic stuff is not getting mastered by the players.
