Crimson Bears' spikers net Palmer

The Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears took a five-game road set over Palmer on Thursday, toppling the Moose 12-25, 27-25, 20-25, 25-21, and 15-8.

Chelsea Peterson led the Crimson Bears with 19 kills, 4 aces and 19 digs; Cora Bontrager had 10 kills, 19 digs; and Gracie Meiners added 10 kills. The Moose were led by Elliot Perkins’ 14 kills, Macey Buresh had 31 assists, Lily Cullers 15 digs and Brecken Riekena 3 aces.

“Any time you can travel up to the valley and get a victory is great,” JDHS assistant coach Dale Bontrager said. “It took us a while to adjust to their defense but we did all right.”

Coach Lesslie Knight stated it was “Good team chemistry and the kids played well together.”

The Crimson Bears play Colony today and Wasilla on Saturday.

Falcons salvage Shootout win

After losing their first two games in the Dimond Prep Shootout by a combined eight points, the Thunder Mountain High School boys basketball team salvaged a win from the Anchorage tournament with a 52-41 Saturday win over North Pole. Read more
