The Juneau-Douglas High School tennis team held their annual Back to School Doubles Tournament Fundraiser over the weekend at the Juneau valley location of The Alaska Club.
The Women’s Doubles team of Annie Kincheloe and Amy Skilbred defeated JDHS’ Emma Good and Pelle Arthur 6-1, 6-2.
In Men’s Doubles: Vini Lata and Dave Ottoson defeated George Crowder and Ron Hohman 6-3, 6-7, 6-1. The Consolation game went to Marc Heifetz and Henry Prussing with a defeat of Kurt Dzinich Jr. and Kurt Dzinich Sr. 7-6 (7-3), 6-4
The Mixed Doubles Upper went to George Crowder and Annie Kincheloe who won the round robin play.
The Mixed Lower went to Crimson Bears’ Pelle Arthur and Jasper MacNaughton with a defeat of Maggie Brokhaus and Matt Jones. The Consolation match went to Brian Lupro and Jade Pilcher with a defeat of Sam Bibb and Bailey Davenport 2-6, 7-6(7-5), 11-9.
The Junior Beginner/Intermediate title went to Robie Janes and Macleod Morehouse with a defeat of Rain Dzinich and Taylor Flannagan 8-3.
The Junior Advanced Doubles final went to Crimson Bears sophomore’s Sam Bibb and Jasper MacNaughton with their defeat of JDHS senior Marc Heifetz and sophomore Ben
Scudder 7-5, 3-6, 11-9.
The Consolation match went to Crimson Bears’ Emma Good and Kathe Tallmadge with a defeat of Sami Good and Erica Hurtte 6-3, 6-1.
The annual JDHS Tennis Team fundraiser included over 50 adult and junior tennis players, who played 49 doubles matches over three days in the Back to School Doubles Tournament Fundraiser. Next up for the JDHS team is the regional tournament to be held a the Juneau Alaska Club September 26-29 and then four girls and four boys will head to Anchorage for the High School State Championships on October 5-6.
