On November 11, 1935, The Alaska Daily Press ran this article:
Juneau’s winter sports lovers have not only been successful in agitating for a skating rink, but have organized a ski club.
Capt. A. M. “Sandy” Smith has been named president of the new Juneau Ski Club, Ernie Parsons, vice-president, and Norman Banfield secretary-treasurer.
Charter members of the newly formed organization are: “Sandy” Smith, Norman Banfield, Ernest Parsons, Lieut. C. H. Anderson, Ensign William Peal, William Norton, Olaf Swanson, C. Carthun, Orrin Kimbal, William Kimbal, Dan Moller, Lu Liston, Bert Caro, Arthur Davlin, Mrs. Esther Caro, Curtis Shattuck and John Davidson.
New applications for membership must be submitted in writing to the secretary of the club. Combined entrance fee and one year’s dues was set at three dollars
Satisfactory progress on the Douglas ski trail and cabin was reported. A dance and other events are being planned for the near future.
