NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Alaska Anchorage men’s and women’s cross country teams continue to be ranked in the top 10 nationally in Week 2 of the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association with the women’s team and men’s squad remaining at No. 5 and No. 8, respectively.
The UAA women’s squad, which has been idle for the last two weekends, continues to lead the West Region over Chico State (No. 6). The top 14 positions remained the same with Augustana (S.D.) leading the field at No. 1, while Adams State and Grand Valley State are No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Western State leads UAA at No. 4.
NCAA newcomer and Great Northwest Athletic Conference member Simon Fraser sits at No. 9, while Western Washington is No. 16 and Seattle Pacific is No. 21.
On the men’s side, the Seawolves continue their ranking from the preseason at No. 8 and are in second in the region behind No. 3 Chico State. Adams State leads the list and is followed by No. 2 Western State. GNAC foe WWU trails UAA at No. 12 and Western Oregon is No. 18.
The UAA women have been ranked in the top 10 for 35 weeks straight, while the men’s team has cracked the top-15 for 22 consecutive weeks.
The Seawolves continue to be idle this weekend and the next before competing at the Western Washington Classic on Oct. 6 in Bellingham, Wash.
