2012 Thunder Mountain Falcons Football Seniors

The following are senior bios submitted to the Juneau Empire by the Thunder Mountain High School football and cheer representatives. The Juneau Empire sports department encourages all coaches to send in senior athlete bios as their season wraps up. The bios will run with photos after the traditional senior night ceremonies.

Thank you to the Thunder Mountain football and cheer teams. Good luck on Friday against the Homer Mariners in the ASAA medium school semifinals at 7 p.m. on TMHS Falcons Field.

Josh Tupou (31), RB/LB: Josh is one of the most unique players Thunder Mountain has ever had; he is good at everything and complains about nothing. Josh was rewarded to play full back his senior year and he paid Thunder Mountain back by being one of the teams leading rushers. Josh will be very hard to replace, good luck!

Viliami Tupou (9), QB/LB: Villi is a hard worker and an even harder hitter. Villi brings great leadership to the team and is a stand out student athlete. Villi has played many positions throughout his career and with his hard work and dedication he has done well at all of them. We will miss him.

Josh Rauwolf (77), OL/DL: Josh is a first year player; he came into Thunder Mountain having never played football. Josh has done a good job learning the basic fundamentals of how to play the game and will take these life lessons on with him after high school. It has been a pleasure coaching Josh.

Brennan Watson (76), OL/DL: Brennan has been with the program for two years and has been a pleasure to coach. Brennan has brought great character and an even better work ethic to the program, characteristics that Thunder Mountain’s football program was founded on. Each day the coaches have watched Brennan progress and turn from a player to a young man.

Chris Mack (19), WR/DB: Besides Chris’ great hands and his ability to learn new positions, Chris’ easy-going personality has allowed the other players to have fun and work hard. Regardless of what is happening on the field Chris helps the team have a positive outlook no matter a win or loss. The coaching staff would like to congratulate Chris on setting the new school record for most interceptions in a season.

Dalton Wellard (15), QB/WR: Dalton was unsure if he was going to come back his senior year or not, we are sure glad he did because Dalton defines what it means to be Thunder Mountain football player. Dalton brings excellence to the classroom and carries that work ethic onto the field. It is an honor to coach a player like Dalton.

Drew Gardner (65), OL/DL: From the moment Drew stepped onto the field until now, Drew has improved more than any player that has joined our team. Drew demonstrated this off-season a desire to get better and stopped at nothing to achieve this goal. Drew brings a light-hearted, easy-going personality that makes every player want to be around him. We wish you the best of luck next year!

John Jolly (20), RB/DB: John has great speed, great hands, and a vision that cannot be taught. The mental and physical attributes that he brought to Thunder Mountain have been exceptional, to say the least. John is a rare player that will be challenging for coaches to replace last year. The coaching staff would like to congratulate John on setting the new school record for longest play from the line of scrimmage, 92yrds.

Kyle Dille (73), OL/DL: Kyle is a first year player who brings a great attitude and effort to the field every single day. Kyle faced injury this year and when he recovered came back like he hadn’t missed a day. Thank you Kyle for being part of Thunder Mountain football!

Matt Schramm (64), OL/DL: Matt brings a unique style of football to Thunder Mountain, and always has a ‘yes coach’ approach. Matt is a player that if he doesn’t know how to do something, he will work his hardest to get it right. When the team is struggling, Matt takes it upon himself to get players fired up and ready to play football. His excitement and enthusiasm on the field has motivated Thunder Mountain to win more than one game this year. We will miss his spirit on the field next year.

Joseph Ia (37), RB/LB: Joe’s blazing speed and incredible hands, coupled with his amazing leadership has sparked the coaches to try new things and put Joe all over the field. From quarterback to kick returner, there is nothing that Joe can’t do. The last three years the coaching staff has watched Joe grow as a player and a person and he will be a great leader someday.

Justin Cox (62), OL/DL: Justin is a first year player that brings a veteran attitude to practice. When you look at Justin you would never know that he has only been playing for one year. Justin is quiet on the field, but the coaches recognize his improvement every week. We wish we had you for another three years, good luck Justin!

Manager Keishla Soto-Sanchez: Keishla has been a manager for two years; she brings a great work ethic and attitude to Thunder Mountain. She always has a smile on her face, is always willing to help and is a pleasure to be around.

Manager Danaya Caldwell: Danaya has been with Thunder Mountain football for four years. You will never see her without a smile on her face or a willingness to help others. Danaya defines what it means to be a manager and her people skills are far and above what a high school student should be. We will sorely miss you Danaya and thank you for being there for us and all you have done.

Cheerleader Christiana Parish, Senior Captain: Christiana is one of the first all 4 year Varsity cheerleaders for TMHS. She came to our team as a freshman with no cheer experience and quickly became an important player in our cheer teams success. She is always willing to try new positions and excels in all areas of cheer and has an amazing triple toe touch! Christiana is easy to coach and is as dedicated to her sport as any coach could ask for. Her work ethic and showmanship will be missed as she moves on the college; cheering her way to a Forensic Psychology degree.

Cheerleader Nicole Nelson, JV Captain and Varsity Cheer: Nicole is also one of our first all four year TMHS cheerleader. Nicole has years of experience, is a great learner and leads her team by leading by example. She is very hard worker, quick learner and can always be counted on to do her best on the track, during fundraising, spirit events and day-to-day practice. Nicole is also very active in school organizations and is the Student Body President! We will have to work hard to replace her and she goes on the college for a Psychology degree.

Cheerleader Ashley McClain, Captain Varsity: Ashley has been so fun to work with over the last 3 years, she has excelled in her top girl position with grace and ease. She is quick to help others and shares her flying experience with other teammates, helping to encourage her team to working to achieve success. Ashley has overcome and excels while dealing with major life changing experiences and shows that she LOVES to cheer, There is no stopping her (even after falling and rolling her ankle just minutes prior to competition) she strives for the best under any circumstances. We will all miss her calm, graceful presence on our team. Ashley has the ability to be successful at whatever her future holds.

Cheerleader Andrea Scharen, Varsity Cheer/Manager: Anna is an all four year TMHS Cheerleader. Anna is an amazing and talented hard worker; “lets do it again” and “come on lets do this” are often her words when working on a hard or frustrating stunt. Unfortunately she has experienced an knee injury that has kept her off the track this year, but that doesn’t stop her. While she waits for a cartridge donor, she has jumped right in as a manager that really understands all the behind the scenes work that ensures success. Anna has been instrumental in our fundraising over the years, especially cheer clinics where is she is fantastic with the little future cheerleaders. Anna plans to go college and become an Ultrasound Technician.
