Juneau Roller Girls wipe out North Pole

After a couple hard-fought bouts against Rage City and Yukon teams last season, the Juneau Rollergirls’s travel team secured their first win in their first bout in Season 2 against the North Pole Babes in Toyland last Saturday, September 29th at Juneau’s Centennial Hall. After starting strong against North Pole in the first half, the second half began with Juneau leading 100-65. North Pole kept things exciting and came back strong in the second half coming within 20 points of closing the point gap, but Juneau was able to keep North Pole at bay, finally ending the bout 187-136. As voted on by the bouting skaters, the bout MVPs were: North Pole MVP Jammer - Ice Storm & North Pole MVP Blocker - Blitzen Bomb’eer; Juneau MVP Jammer - April Mayhem & Juneau MVP Blocker - Just Julie.

Juneau will be hosting Fairbanks Rollergirls on October 27th at 7pm and tickets will go on sale Friday, October 19th. Tickets can be purchased at the JAHC, Hearthside Books, and Rainy Retreat Books. As usual, 5% of bout proceeds will be donated to a local non-profit. The local nonprofit selected for the September bout was The Haven House and the JRG are currently voting on the recipient for October.

Juneau’s roster included: Captain Just Julie, April Mayhem, Fatty Dook, Jean Claude Hot Damn, Jendetta, Kimbustible, Maiden Alaska, Peach Clobber, Skatie Brite, Southeast Manhandler, Tanyo Hyde, Titty Tripper, Tuffy Bragoon, and Vertabracher. Bench coaches were Catapult Kim and Wild Bird. North Pole’s roster: Captain Ice Storm, Mica Tastrophy, AK Metal Angel, Bad Lady, Blitzen Bomb’eer, Hanimal, Heartless Cupid, Irish Insanity, Melf, Sabobtage, and Santa’s Sweet Enforcer.
