Last Saturday’s first annual Zombie 5K along the scary Treadwell Mines Trails at Sandy Beach had a total of 67 registered participants including 29 adults and 38 kids and an undisclosed number of the walking dead. The proceeds raised are going to support the Harborview Triathlon Club, which will be an extension of the existing Marathon Club. Their goal is to continue to teach children about the benefits of exercise, health and nutrition while enjoying the community of organized events. The Zombie 5K had extensive support from volunteers and sponsors. Event organizors stated it is a real joy and truly a gift to live in such a generous community such as Juneau.
