Bowlers roll for charity

Monday bowling action featured forty-five Juneau bowlers taking to the lanes together at Taku Lanes to raise money for breast cancer research. This annual event began six years ago when Leslie Dumont and Ginger Griffin worked together to design a tournament to raise money for this worthy cause and for the bowlers to have fun. Gordon Griffin has consistently been supporting the tournament with the forms and the computer program.

This year the winning team “5 Lovely Ladies” was comprised of Brenda Mickowski, Lindsey Doctorman, Sandy Mielke, Louise Tyner and Kimberly Vaughan. They will keep the rotating trophy until next year’s event and each member of the team will receive a t-shirt commemorating their accomplishment. The t-shirts have been donated by Gifts & Graphics.

Team “Sunday’s Hope” sponsored by Donna’s Restaurant (Gordon Griffin, Ginger Griffin, Katie Damian, Leslie Dumont & Kyle Lanz) bowled the high scratch series of 968.

All bowlers in Monday’s fundraising event enjoyed door prizes, strike prizes, cake while raising over $1,000 to be donated to Susan B. Korman.
