FAIRBANKS – After Day 1, the Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks lead the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves, 28-14 on Friday in the annual Alaska Nordic Cup.
The Nanook women’s team posted a perfect score of 15 points outdistance the Seawolves’ six, while the UAF men scored 13 points to UAA’s eight.
Leading the Seawolves was junior Lasse Molgaard-Nielsen in second place on the men’s team. Molgaard-Neilsen finished with a time of eight minutes, 32.8 seconds in the 3K Classic. Topping the women’s race for UAA was freshman Marine Dusser in eighth place at 6:49.1 in the 2K Classic.
The event also doubled as the Goldstream Sports Tour de Ski Fairbanks.
Day 2 of the Cup is scheduled for Saturday, weather permitting.
